Soi & Doro is not an ordinary accessory brand.

We exist to create impact—through every piece we design, every fabric we rescue, and every story we tell.

What began as a simple scrunchie made from forgotten fabrics has grown into a movement rooted in intention. We believe accessories should do more than complete an outfit; they should stand for something. Each Soi & Doro piece is thoughtfully handcrafted using repurposed textiles, transforming what was once overlooked into something meaningful, beautiful, and lasting.

Our work honors craftsmanship, conscious choices, and the idea that small actions—when done with purpose—can create powerful change. At Soi & Doro, impact isn’t an afterthought. It’s stitched into everything we create.

Meet Kinal Mandliya

I’m Kinal Mandliya, the founder of Soi & Doro. I started this brand when I was 17 with a simple belief — fashion should respect both the people who wear it and the planet we share.

Soi & Doro was born from my curiosity about how much already exists in the world of fashion, and how much potential is hidden in materials that are often forgotten.

Where My Journey Began

My journey into fashion started early. I completed my schooling at 16 and began a foundation year at BRDS in Ahmedabad at the age of 17. That was the moment I realised my love for designing and creating.

I later studied Fashion Design at INIFD Gandhinagar for three years. During that time, I explored many sides of the fashion industry through projects, showcases, and industrial visits.

I visited denim factories in Daman to understand how large-scale production works. I also travelled to Kutch where I saw the incredible craftsmanship of handloom workers and learned about their lifestyle and dedication to traditional textile practices.

During my studies, I showcased a few of my designs at New Work Fashion Week and also presented a fashion show in Ahmedabad. These experiences helped me understand both the creative side of fashion and the reality of how the industry operates.

The Realisation

While working on my design projects, I spent a lot of time visiting fabric markets to buy materials. That’s when I began noticing something that stayed with me.

Almost every store had corners filled with small batches of fabrics that had been sitting there for months or even years. These fabrics weren’t damaged or unusable — they were simply ignored because they were not part of the newest stock.

Sometimes I would buy these leftover fabrics for my projects. They were often cheaper but still in great condition. All they needed was a wash and a new idea.

It made me question something simple:

If so much fabric already exists, why are we constantly creating more?

The Beginning of Soi & Doro

When COVID happened, I moved back to Porbandar, Gujarat for two years and became more involved in my family’s business, which has been running for over 40 years.

There, I noticed the same issue again. Fabrics would be purchased in bulk, but small leftover batches would remain unsold because customers preferred fresh new stock.

Over time, these fabrics would move from the shop floor into storage, where they would sit for years.

Seeing this pattern again made me realise how much valuable material was simply being forgotten.

From 8 Scrunchies to 100 Orders a Day

So I decided to experiment.

I started by making just eight scrunchies from leftover fabrics.

Within a few weeks, something unexpected happened — we started receiving around 100 orders a day.

During this time, my brother became one of my strongest pillars. He supported me with manufacturing, helped organise the production process, and even assisted with product shoots as the orders started growing quickly.

What started as a small idea suddenly turned into something real.

Learning Beyond Borders

After those two years, I moved to the UK to continue learning more about fashion and sustainability.

I studied Fashion Design at BCU for three years and explored sustainable design practices in greater depth.

During my time there, I visited more than 100 thrift stores to understand how upcycling works in different markets.

I also participated in 10–15 marketplace events across the UK, where I shared Soi & Doro with new communities and learned directly from customers.

Looking Ahead

Today, Soi & Doro continues to grow with the same mission it started with — to create beautiful accessories while respecting the planet.

I am also currently writing a book about sustainability and conscious fashion, which I hope to launch soon. This project is very close to my beliefs and reflects the values that shaped Soi & Doro.

Whether you support Soi & Doro by purchasing our products or simply by taking the time to read this story, you are part of this journey.

Every small choice towards mindful fashion makes a difference, and I am truly grateful to have you here.

Our Vision

At Soi & Doro, our vision is to redefine the way the world sees fashion — not just as a style statement, but as a conscious choice.

We believe that accessories should be beautiful, meaningful, and mindful. Our dream is to build a globally recognized brand that stands for sustainable luxury, where every piece tells a story, celebrates individuality, and contributes to a better future. We aim to inspire people to choose quality over quantity, and to see fashion as a powerful tool for change — one that respects both people and the planet.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create high-quality, thoughtfully designed accessories that are as unique as the people who wear them. We are committed to sustainability in its truest form — not just environmentally, but socially and ethically.

By repurposing surplus fabrics and working with local artisans, we aim to reduce waste and give new life to existing materials. Every product we make is crafted with care, undergoes multiple quality checks, and is made in limited quantities to ensure exclusivity and value.

We want our customers to feel proud of what they wear — not just because it looks good, but because it does good. Whether it’s a scrunchie, tote bag, or a custom gift hamper, Soi & Doro is here to offer timeless accessories that last, connect, and inspire.
